Head Wonk: The Policy Platforms of the Liberal Leadership Candidates

Whoever becomes the next Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada will be thrown into a national election campaign within days or months. That means the policies they put forward during this leadership race will form the foundation of the party’s next platform. It is our job as voters to push them to share what they would do as Canada’s next Prime Minister.

During the 2023 Ontario Liberal Party leadership election, I tracked all of the candidates’ policy commitments and created a cheat-sheet tracker highlighting some of the key pledges of that race in order to give voters an easy summary to reference. I’m planning to do the same thing in this race.

Given the short timeline and the unlikelihood that the candidates will get deep into the weeds on policy, I will only be putting together a policy cheat sheet this time around. I will update it as regularly as I can on this page so you can refer back to it as often as needed.
